Dogfest!

Every year, my school has a big, fun time at a nearby park. It's Dogfest! People bring their dogs. Tons of my friends are there. Lots of games. I love getting my face painted. A butterfly, always. The cool part about it is that I get to play with my friends! And eat cotton candy. But I can never finish a whole one by myself. I saw a really tiny dog that was so cute. I probably could fit it in my pocket. And I saw a dog that could flip backwards in the air. How did he do that? And Cruella de Vil was there! Except he was a man dressed like a woman. Like RuPaul. But I think that RuPaul looks more like Barbie.

Ellie!

Yay! Today is my baby cousin Ellie's birthday! She's two! She's not really a baby anymore. She's a toddler! She's smart, strong, and really funny. I love her. I finger-knit her a scarf. But Mommy hasn't mailed it yet. Come on, Mom, get with it.

Drunk

Mommy: Yoshi, how would you get drunk, if you could?

Me: Well, I'd drink a lot of 7-Up! And then a lot of hot cocoa! And then I'd punch myself in the face!

Mommy: Yeah, that sounds about right.

Spring Break

I'm in the middle of Spring Break. I know it sounds crazy... but... I kinda miss school.

Skype!

I like Skype. I use it to see my friend Ella all the way in Israel. I also use it to talk with my cousin Ellie in Orange County. Ellie is still a baby. And she's really funny. And she's not shy. I'm shy sometimes. Even with Ellie. But I still love to skype with Uncle Eric and Ellie, even though I don't always know what to say. Sometimes Mommy makes funny faces to Ellie. And Ellie laughs. I laugh too.

Glasses

Me: Mommy, can you put on your glasses so I can look at you?

Mommy: Sure. [she puts on her glasses] How's this?

Me: You look old.

Mommy: You mean mature and sophisticated, right?

Me: No. I mean old. You look old. Old.

Daddy and I played with my camera. We had a photoshoot. He took pictures of me wearing my glasses. And I took pictures of him wearing hats:

Crafty Valentines

Sometimes I feel like crying when I have to do something hard. Like make 20 valentines for everyone in my class. Mommy helped me out for this. I picked out pretty pictures on the computer. I picked out the type of letters to use in the writing. She printed a bunch of them out on paper and cut them out. Then I decorated them with homemade heart stickers that Mommy cut out. I wrote all the names on the happy green origami envelopes (also made by Mommy--she's crazy). I put more stickers on the envelopes. Then I put all the cards in the envelopes. Now they are ready to pass out at school tomorrow!

Countdown

Only 5 more days until Valentines!
And only 6 more days until Bean and Cheese burrito day for school lunch!

Flu

Last week I got the flu. I'm still a little sick. I missed a field trip to the Academy of Sciences because I was home sick. Sometimes I like being home sick because I get to miss school. But sometimes I don't like being home sick because I'm sick. And being sick is no fun. I slept a lot. I would wake up from my nap and then right after, take another nap. The sofa and I became good friends. I didn't want my stuffed animals to see me sick, so I didn't play with them. I think that was a mistake because it was boring.

I told Mommy, "The top of my mouth feels like mini-mountains." No fun.

Happy New Year!

It's a new year. Good bye 2010! Hi 2011! Sometimes I write the wrong year on my papers at school. Here are some things I did before the year ended.

My class sang at the Fairmont Hotel. I am embarrassed to sing in front of people, but I did it anyway.


I built a gingerbread house at school.


Then it was vacation! No school for 16 days! I did lots of fun stuff like go to the Nutcracker Ballet with Mommy. We celebrated Christmas. I got fun presents, like rock climbing gear, stuff for my bike, books, and games. I ate a lot of yummy treats.

Then I went to Hollywood! We stayed where there were a lot of stars with names on them on the sidewalk. When I stay at hotels, I test out the beds by jumping on them. It's especially fun jumping from one bed to the other. This hotel had very nice beds and lots of fluffy pillows.

I went to Venice Beach. There were a lot of people working out. I worked on my balance.



Part of my Christmas present from Mommy and Daddy was a trip to the Lego Store to pick out some legos. We found a store while on vacation. I wanted to take this giant one home, but I don't think it would fit on the other lego bricks so I decided to leave it at the store and get some smaller ones.


And of course I had fun being with Ellie Belly!



I rang in the new year with my walk-to-school-buddy and his family. We played Wii. And I tied balloons in everyone's hair.

I can tell that 2011 is going to be a great year.

Family bikes!

Today was a good day. Today was the first day that Daddy, Mommy and I rode our bikes together as a family. I made sure to slow down at all driveways. I stopped at each intersection. I looked in all directions for cars coming. It was a little like an obstacle course because there were a lot of people on the sidewalk that I had to go around. Mommy and Daddy were proud of me. I even was the leader part of the way!

We rode to City Hall! The building with the gold bump on it! There was an open house there, even though it's not a house. We got to walk around in the fancy offices. I had hot cider. And candy canes! Daddy and Mommy talked to the City Attorney's press secretary because they are running buddies. I was shy and didn't talk. I was thinking about eating more candy canes.

There was a lot going on. I ran into my friend from pre-school! And we hung out with Mommy and Daddy's friends. I played on the playground.

And I biked all the way home too! That's three miles I biked today!

Yay! I'm tired, but I want to ride more!

I like rain!

Sometimes I like getting wet. 'Cause it's fun! The other day it rained on my walk home from school. Mommy let me get wet! I like grabbing the leaves on the branches and shake the water onto my head. I like the cold water on my head. It feels nice. It's refreshing.

When I got home, I felt like I had been standing in the rain for a hundred googol years. Yay!

Piano

This is a picture I took of Mommy's hands. She's playing a Christmas song on the piano. I like this picture. I think it looks nice. It looks better than the song sounds.

I love science!

When I grow up, I want to be a scientist that draws. I practice a lot of art and science. A couple days ago Mommy and I did a sciencey-art project. We grew our own crystals! You don't plant it like a seed. But it does use water.

First, get some pipe cleaners. I used red, pink, and my favoritist blue! Criss-cross them over the middle and twist around to make a snowflake shape. Make a loop in one of the ends of the snowflake. Tie a wire through it. Wrap the wire around a pencil.

Heat up 3 cups of water to a temperature of very, very hot. I think it's 100000000 degrees. Pour it into a container. Put 9 tablespoons of Borax powder into the water. I love measuring cups and measuring spoons. I especially love to level stuff off by running a butter knife across the top. Fun! Where was I? Oh yeah, borax is what Mommy uses to clean things. She puts it everywhere... the laundry, the dishwasher, the hole in the sink that eats everything, the toilet... Maybe I should put it in my room and see if it will clean my room for me....

Stir very carefully ('cause the water might splash and burn you. Ouchie.) the borax until it just about disappears. Some falls to the bottom of the container. Then put the pipe cleaner snowflake in the water. Be sure that it's not touching the container at all. Then wait.



Waiting is hard. That's why I did the project right before bedtime. When I woke up, it was ready!

Morning piano fun

I like to make up songs on the piano. Mostly first thing in the morning on the weekends! Mommy and Daddy say something about neighbors trying to sleep. I say silly neighbors! They should be up playing!

Drawings

The other day Mommy let me draw on her computer using her drawing pad thingy. I love that thing.

I drew Mommy with a birthday cake and balloons. I love birthdays.



I drew 7 cinnamon rolls. Because they are yummy.

Halloween

Do you know what my most favorite part about Halloween is? I'll give you some hints.
It's not the candy.
It's not that dressing up.
It's not staying up late running around outside.

It's the pumpkin seeds! I love them. They are yummy with grated Parmesan cheese on top.

I'm Seven!

Today is my birthday! I'm seven years old today. I hear that 7 is a lucky number. So far, I like being seven. Yesterday I was six and I had the flu. That was no fun. I threw up a lot. My barf tasted like crayons. And I cried because my tummy hurt lots and lots. Ouchie. I cried until I fell asleep.

But today! I woke up and felt good. I read on the couch (I slept there!). Then Daddy came in and said, "Happy Birthday!" and gave me a hug and kiss. He and Mommy said that I could stay home from school today since I still needed to get better. That means lots of rest. But I was healthy enough to take a cab to Daddy's office and draw on the whiteboard. He works across from the big baseball place where the Giants play. He said it's going to be crazy tomorrow when the World Series starts. Sounds fun!

For my birthday I got green stripey fingerless mitts that Mommy made. Also a flower ring. I love when Mommy makes me things. And for dinner, we ate my favorite food--Udon. That is Japanese slurpy noodles in soup. We had an inside picnic in my room. I set up the picnic on the floor. Yay! We eat in my room only on very special days. My birthday is a special day.

I wonder what fun things I'll do as a seven year old!
